Buc-ee’s Pressed Pennies v2 | Daytona Beach, Fl

I’m not sure if you have jumped on the hype train that is Buc-ee’s Fandom but it’s seems like I see more and more people walking around with Buc-ee’s shirts on and tons of people talking about the stores online. The company seems to be expanded further norther but continues to open new locations throughout the south as well. So far in Florida we still just have the two locations, but there are supposed to be at least two more on the way. We don’t live right next to one, but the Daytona Beach location is about an hour and a half away so we head out there a few times a year just to get our fix.

Being a pressed penny collector another great reason to visit a Buc-ee’s location is they almost all have a penny machine. The designs are all similar, with just the location name being different. I’ve done my best to collect as many of these sets as I can and wrote about the Dayton location in a previous post. However, it has come to my attention that a new set of designs has slowly started to make an appearance.

Not needing any more convincing, we jumped in our car and headed over to Daytona Beach for some beaver nuggets and breakfast brisket tacos. We always prefer to go in the morning, but it doesn’t seem to matter when you go these stores are wild and very busy.

The penny press machine is in the same location it always is, just past the food section closer to all the Buc-ee’s merchandise. Another nice perk is the machine still only cost $0.50 to press and you can supply whatever kind of penny you prefer.

I pressed a set and sure enough they are different than the original versions I had pressed her a few years ago. Once I got back home I checked with some other collectors and this has been notated as the version 2 (v2) Buc-ee’s penny designs. Just as before the main image of each design seems to be the same among the locations that now have them, but the location name is different making them still a fun little subset to collect.

I don’t know how many existing Buc-ee’s stores have updated to these new v2 designs, so if they haven’t changed yet they probably will be soon. There have also been some reports that the new store locations like in Brunswick Georgia are skipping directly to the v2 designs.

I do like the idea that these designs may change every few years as it just keeps us collectors on our toes and make sure we have always have something new to collect, and gives you another excuse to drive out and visit a Buc-ee’s.
