UPDATED 08/12/2023: Disneyland has released some new 100th Anniversary medallion designs. Please note these are NOT new machines. Rather they are existing machines that have been loaded with new medallion designs. I will keep this post updated as an all-inclusive guide to the entire set of medallions both active and retired designs. If you only want to read about these latest medallions you can check this separate post here. Good luck and Happy hunting!

First I just want to put a big disclaimer here that this post will contain the collectible medallions that are available in Disneyland out in California. These are not currently available in Florida. For all Walt Disney World 100th Anniversary Medallions visit this separate post here. I do not personally have access to Disneyland so this information is being supplied by friends and fellow collectors, and I will try to keep it all organized here for everyone’s reference. Be sure to also check out the ParkPennies.com website for more detailed information on these Disneyland Coins and more.
We have a YouTube Video available at the bottom of this post showing you even more details about locations of each machine and the pennies available.
If you have any updates or pictures on these machines please let know in the comments. Keep on Collecting!
Starting January 27th, 2023 Disneyland out in California has begun celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company. There are plenty of new decorations, performances, special food and lots of souvenirs including a brand new set of Souvenir Medallions. I did want to mention that the price has gone up with this latest series, they now cost $6 for one coin, or $20 for the full set of four at each machine. Start saving now because this may be quite an expensive set to acquire.

The first item to appear in the parks was the above Souvenir Medallion Collection Book. This includes 10 plastic pocket pages that will hold 8 coins each for a total of 80 medallions. At this time we are not sure exactly how many 100 Years of Wonder coins will be made available so make sure to bookmark this page for all the details as we uncover all of them.
Above is an image of the reverse side of all the coins with the 100 Years of Wonder logo and does notate Disneyland specifically.

Over in Tomorrowland at the exit area of Space Mountain near where you would view your ride photos is the machine with this next set of Star Wars themed medallions. Luke & Vader, Yoda, Leia & R2-D2, and Chewie & Han.
Pieces of Eight Gift Shop (Pirate of the Caribbean)

Across the park in New Orleans Square just head inside the store for Pirates of the Caribbean known as the Pieces of Eight Gift Shop for this machine. The new designs available here are of Jack Skellington & Sally, Oogie Boogie, Captain Hook and a slightly modified Pirates of the Caribbean Skull Logo.
The only significant difference between the old and new version of this medallion is towards the top underneath the 100. “Years of Wonder” is a bolder font and more pronounced / visible than before. Special thank you to Boomer at ParkPennies.com and Kelly Buchwald for catching this change.

The original medallion designs located in this machine were removed. They included designs showing off Poochie the famous Pirates Prison Dog with Key, the Skull and Crossbones Pirates logo, and then two from the Haunted mansion featuring Madame Leota, and the guest favorite Hitchhiking Ghosts Gus, Phineas and Ezra.

As you stroll down Buena Vista street take a quick trip inside Kingswell Camera Shop for this machine which currently has my favorite designs in this special collection. The coins have images of Steamboat Willie, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Classic Minnie Mouse, and the beautiful Storytellers Statue.
** Variant / Error Steamboat Willie Design **
We have been notified of an error / variant version of the Steamboat Willie coin. As you can see in the above comparison pictures take a close look at the (C) Disney along the bottom. Similar to the Stitch Error Coin below, it seems like the coin with the missing (C) Disney along the bottom was part of the initial batch of coins released. Guests that have purchased this coin more recently seem to be getting the corrected coin. Be sure to check out your own collection, you may have one of the limited error versions of this coin.

Inside the Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout gift shop called The Collector’s Warehouse is the Marvel themed set of souvenir medallions. There are coins with Groot, Spiderman, Black Panther and Captain America available in this location.

Back in the newly renovated Pixar Pier the next machine is located inside Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff candy store. The coins here are still Pixar themed even after the change to new coins that including Mike Wazowski, Sully & Boo, Flick & Heimlich, Lightning McQueen, and Ember & Wade from the new Elemental animated movie.

This machine originally had some other famous duos on the coin designs including Mirabel & Bruno, Lilo & Stitch, Simba Timon & Pubmaa, and Peter Pan Wendy & Tinker Bell.
** Variant / Error Stitch Design **
It has been brought to our attention that there was an error / variant version of the Stitch coin. As you can see in the above comparison pictures take a close look at the (C) Disney along the bottom. It seems like many collectors that were among the first to acquire this design may have received the error version. Many collectors I have spoken to that have just recently picked up this coin seem to have received the corrected version. I’m not sure if any are still available inside the machine at this time, but I’m sure once it was noticed they were probably pulled quickly. Be sure to check out your own collection, you may have one of the limited error versions of this coin.

Shouldn’t we expect the same medallions in both DW and DL as these medallions are not resort specific?

Oh Wait. Should have read your whole post. This medallions are marked specifically marked DisneyLand. So if you are completist and want all medallions from both DL and DW you could be looking at upwards of 160 medallions. LOL

Yes, that is going to be quite a task for anyone looking to get everyone’s medallion released for the 100th. I am curious to see if WDW gets some special designs that are different from Disneyland. But I have a feeling the main design will be the same for both, and only the reverse image will be different. Shouldn’t be too long before we find out.

Wow! Super excited. But I have decided I will only collect Chip and Dale. They’re my favorite characters. I do want the Disneyland and WDW. Not sure how I’ll get Disneyland. But I have to have them. Thank you for your posts.

The book is $24.99 and seems to be quite hard to find right now. I think most of the initially released stock was purchased pretty quickly. I have heard that some periodically appear in the park gift shops like It’s a Small World and the Emporium, World of Disney in Downtown Disney, and inside the gift shops at Disney-owned hotels. I’m sure more will become available soon. Hopefully, if someone sees them along their travels, they can keep us posted here as I’m sure many other collectors are also interested in them.

So glad you posted this. Right now we are expecting the 100th coins around 4/01 when the 50th ends and right now the 100th collector books are plenty in DW. I’m gonna stock up on them now before that happens here in DW. Thank you for the heads up!

Does anyone have a Disneyland medallion book for sale? I just returned from Disneyland and I collected all of the coins, but could not find a boom anywhere. Online searches only yield WDW books – which I already have.

I have heard that they changing the medallions in the machines. I went to check in the California Disney hotel and they did. Did they change in the other machines in the Disneyland resort?

So far there are five machines I’ve been told about with new medallion designs. These are not additional machines, they are still in the same location just filled with new coin designs. I’ll be working to update this post with those changes once I have more info and pictures. But for now I started a separate post to document just these new coins.

What happens to the retired designs?
I want to collect all the coins but only going in the summer. How come they retire the designs if they are all for the 100 celebration? Do they love them to a different place?
LikeLike
Usually they are just removed and won’t return if they are handled like the pressed penny machines which is unfortunate. You can check the resale market for those retired medallions like eBay but obviously they will probably have quite inflated prices at this point. If you check now maybe the sellers haven’t realized they are retired and you can get them for a more reasonable price. The other option is to check some Facebook groups, there is a great one called “Disney Coin Pressers” that is primarily pressed penny collectors, but many of them have also been collecting the medallions at both WDW and Disneyland. Some of them may still have some extras available for sale, and usually they are much cheaper than the eBay sellers. If I hear any news on those original designs being available again I’ll be sure to update the post. Good luck with your Collection!

Wild thought… Disneyland has a total of 12 machines each selling each 4 coins. That is an initial of 48 coins. Now, as of August 11, 5 machines discontinued and started selling a set of 4 new coins. If my count is correct that is a total of 68 coins released not including all error variations. Interesting that the book can hold 80 coins. That leaves about 12 more coins to complete the collectors book. If each machine holds 4 coins, 3 more machines are going to get new coins 🤔😲

Just went today 9/17/23 to the Pixar Place Hotel. They are doing construction so you have to enter through the front of the hotel where they have the valet service. Enter the door and on the right hand side there is a gift shop. It is located inside the medallion machine. They recently moved the machine.
